At Jill Zander, we understand that unwanted hair is a common problem for both men and women.
People will use different methods in their quest to achieve smooth skin. From shaving to waxing to epilators, there are many different techniques for hair removal. However, some are more painful and time consuming than others!
So, here a Jill Zander we thought we would give you some details on the most popular forms of hair removal, and the pros and cons of all of these methods.
Shaving
Shaving is probably the most common way for people to remove hair, mainly because it’s quick, easy to do yourself and cheap. People who shave need to remember to change rusty or dull blades as there is more chance of irritation or even infection. With shaving the main disadvantages are that the smoothness doesn’t last long, there’s risk for ingrown hairs, nicks and some people can experience very uncomfortable razor burn.
Threading
Threading is mostly used on people’s faces, e.g. to shape eyebrows or to remove upper lip hair. This is a natural way to get rid of unwanted hair. Thread is used to twist and roll along your skin, lifting the hair from the root. It’s quite a quick process, but can be very uncomfortable – a bit like lots of tweezing along the skin’s surface.
Waxing
Depending on where you want the hair removed from your body, waxing can be extremely painful. A layer of hot wax is applied to your skin, a strip of fabric is placed on top and once nearly dry it holds onto the skin, pulling the hairs from the root. It can be challenging to do this method by yourself as some people get nervous about the pain and avoid going through with the waxing half way through!
As waxing can cause inflammation, ingrown hairs and irritation, it’s not suitable with people who have very sensitive skin.
Hair removal cream
Using a hair removal cream or gel is good for people who don’t want to shave every day. It can easily be applied to your skin which dissolves the hair and can be wiped away. However, directions must be followed very precisely, as the chemicals can cause redness, burning, peeling or blistering which leads to scarring, if left on for too long.
Laser Hair Removal
There are pros and cons to all of the hair removal methods above but one of the main down side with all of these is how regularly they need to be performed, as, even with waxing, the hair can grow back very quickly.
These methods can also be very painful, cause skin irritation and be very expensive. Razors and waxing kits, for example, can be very costly, especially given how often they are needed to maintain smooth skin.
However, there is another option. Our revolutionary Soprano XL laser hair removal system is virtually painless, safe for all skin types and will permanently reduce the number of re-growing hairs, by over 80%!
The Soprano XL laser hair removal system gradually heats the hair follicles in the sub dermal layer of skin, by using infrared diode laser energy, so they can no longer produce new hair. Typically people will require between 4-6 treatments but this will then permanently reduce the number of re-growing hairs.
If you are tired of waxing, plucking and shaving then our laser hair removal treatment might be the perfect solution to getting rid of your unwanted hair.
