Is there a Secret Weapon to Reverse the Ageing Process?

Question*

I am in my late thirties and I am beginning to notice that I’m losing that youthful glow. It seems that the ageing process is really starting to kick in. I understand that inevitably we will all get old one day, but I want to do it gracefully – however, it’s happened almost overnight. You must have a secret weapon at Jill Zander to reverse the ageing process?

Lilly, Bookham

Answer

Our skin does age as time passes, and the worst damaging culprits are sunlight, pollution and smoking.

I would start with some microdermabrasion treatments – a wonderful way to remove dead cells, brighten the complexion and improve skin texture. Follow this with IPL (Intense Pulse Light) to further improve skin tone and stimulate collagen production. You should definitely include in your daily skincare routine an antioxidant serum – try SkinCeuticals Phloretin C. It helps to destroy the damaging free radicals created by sun exposure and pollution and increases the effectiveness of your sunscreen.

On the dietary front I would recommend you increase your intake of antioxidant rich food such as blueberries, broccoli and spinach, and take supplements such as Vitamin C, Vitamin A and Vitamin E.

How Can I Make My Skin Look Radiant?

Question*

My daughter is getting married soon after Christmas this year. I know I have left it a bit late, but I want my skin to look radiant! It is looking a bit blotchy as a result of too much sun and fine lines on my cheeks and around my eyes are really beginning to bother me.

Sarah, Esher

Answer

Sarah, I know it can be quite daunting to know where to start, and certainly we cannot cheat our way to a perfectly clear and luminous skin, but nevertheless there are a few quick fixes for you to consider – after all, you are the mother of the bride and are justified in wanting to look your best.

I would recommend starting with a couple of Pumpkin Enzyme Resurfacer Peels to tackle the blotchiness problems. They are very gentle and safe but offer instant, visible results, and also are great for eradicating fine lines and to help stimulate collagen production.

Microdermabrasion is another consideration, followed by IPL (Intense Pulse Light). The Microdermabrasion is very gentle yet ever so effective for getting rid of damaged dead cells and will greatly improve the texture and tone of the skin. Then if you follow immediately with the IPL Skin Rejuvenation it gets to work on the uneven pigmentation targeting the brown and red pigment to reveal the beautiful even toned skin beneath. Do however allow a week for the dark patches to fade and flake.

I can guarantee after these fairly intense but extremely gentle and safe treatments you will be delighted with your perfectly balanced and glowing complexion.

Finally, never be without your sunscreen!

Warm regards,

Jill Zander
