What can I do about my hands?

Question*

What can I do about my hands? They are dry and full of dark spots, and wrinkly where my skin is loose. My mother always used to say “Look at the neck and the hands of a women and you can tell their true age”! With this in mind, my hands look about 20 years older than I am!

Answer

Ginette, your mother is right. It is often said that even if a woman has a youthful face, her hands and neck can give away her age.

As we age the skin becomes thinner, losing fat and elasticity. Exposure to the sun, detergents and water also take their toll, showing up as age spots and dry, loose, flaccid skin.

All this to betray our age!

However, with all the technical advances in our industry we can now do a lot to reverse this condition.

A warm Paraffin Wax Mask will do wonders to immediately address the problem of dryness, and the added bonus is that it is deeply relaxing and soothing. It also appears to plump the skin, making wrinkles and loose skin appear firmer. However, a cosmetic doctor can also recommend his/her preferred Dermal Filler, which is amazing for giving instant volume to slack, loose skin. IPL Photo Rejuvenation is the best way to tackle age spots on the hands. The results are quite dramatic. Also try red L.E.D. light technology which works with the body’s own natural processes to counteract the effects of ageing by increasing collagen production. N.B. Always remember to put sunscreen on your hands every day.

Say No to Crow’s Feet

In the past, going under the knife was the only option for getting rid of those deep creases, crow’s feet and sagging skin on your face.

But now there are less extreme alternatives like Botox or Dermal Filler treatments that can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and help make your skin look more vibrant, smooth and youthful.

Botox Treatments

Botox is an injection into the muscles to paralyse it which makes wrinkles and fine lines less obvious. Botox is one of the most popular treatments to have and celebrities are usually in the press and pointed out for having treatments and you may have of heard of ‘Botox parties’ where people get together and have injections done over a few drinks. Botox can leave you with smooth, youthful skin but it can also leave the muscles in your face paralysed, which can lead to some unusual facial expressions!

Dermal Fillers

On the other hand, Dermal Fillers have also had proven results of being an effective treatment to prevent aging, without paralysing the facial muscles. Rather that injecting into the muscle, dermal fillers are injected into the skin and fill up creases which adds volume to improve the look of wrinkles and fine lines.

Dermal fillers can give a more natural result compared to Botox, as it does not affect facial expressions but rather just plumps up the skin that is wrinkled. Fillers plump up sagging and the skin’s elasticity, which if done correctly, can smooth out the consequences of aging, making your skin look rejuvenated and youthful.

Research

Unfortunately neither Botox treatments nor Dermal Fillers last forever, with the affects normally wearing off after about 6 months. However, the treatments may not be permanent like having plastic surgery, but it’s certainly less painful!

Like any other treatments, if you are thinking of having Botox or dermal fillers, make sure you do your research into the different options first and have a consultation with a professional. Why not contact Jill Zander today for more information and a free consultation?
