Is there a Magic Cure for Tired Eyes?

Question*

We have just had the most gorgeous baby, but oh boy, my eyes show in every way how exhausted we are! I look like I have been sleep deprived for most of my adult life. I have tried most things, including cucumbers, and that doesn’t work. (At least I am sure it was cucumbers I put on my eyes, I am so tired it could have been bananas for all I know.) Is there a magic cure?

Sam, Weybridge

Answer

Congratulations to both of you!

We all know that eyes are supposed to be the windows of our soul, but sometimes they do not look their sparkly best. For ‘tired eye emergency’, the Guinot Eye Mask is one of the best de-puffing, bag erasing eye masks available, and it is suitable for both you and your husband. Use it three times a week and you will be amazed to see your eyes look tight, wide awake and refreshed despite very little sleep.

The Stay Young non-surgical eye lift (for which you will have to make time to visit the salon) is outstanding for draining accumulated fluid around the eyes, tightening the skin by increasing collagen production and charging the cells with energy. I guarantee you will look more rested, less strained and the skin will appear softer and more elastic.

Preparing Your Summer Body

Summer bodyAfter the very cold weather we’ve been having, you may think it’s crazy to be thinking about our summer body. However, at Jill Zander, we believe that it’s never too early to start preparing our body for the summer. The sooner we start, the more ready and confident we’ll be for our summery clothes and bikinis. Here are a few tips for getting your body beach-ready:

Exfoliate

Give your skin a boost by exfoliating regularly, it will get rid of the top layer of your dead skin cells, making your skin look and feel smoother and radiant. Finish off by moisturising after your shower to help improve the appearance of your skin.

Exercise

Even though most of us cry at the thought of exercising, it is the key to improving our blood supply and circulation. Getting active will make our skin look firmer as it tones up the muscle and will also boost the metabolism. It does require will power and dedication!

Use Sunscreen

We should be using sunscreen with SPF everyday as it prevents the UV rays from damaging the skin. The sun’s UV rays are linked to leathery, sagging and wrinkling skin as well as increasing the risk of skin cancer. Even on a cold or cloudy day the sun’s UV rays can still reach us. A fair amount of moisturisers, after shave lotions and foundations do contain SPF so it’s worth looking out for these.

Skin Tightening Treatments

We are currently running a Fat Quick-Fix Programme promotion which combines our Accent Radiofrequency skin tightening treatment, our lymph drainage Body Balancer, our Soprano infra-red skin tightening treatment and our Ultratone treatment for the ultimate summer body- without the workout! Fabulous!

How Can I Avoid Dry Skin?

Question*

My skin dries up in the winter and I look like a prune. I do moisturise but it just doesn’t seem to help much – if anything my skin looks worse!

Laura, Esher

Answer

This is a problem so many of us experience and we have to keep on top. Firstly, change your skincare routine. Your skin does alter with the seasons. Exposure to cold weather and air conditioning can cause the skin to lose moisture rapidly.

A perfect quick fix is to have a deeply moisturising facial. The Guinot Hydradermie springs to mind. This facial will immediately hydrate and balance a moisture-starved skin. It is amazingly relaxing and the dry condition virtually vanishes before your eyes. You leave feeling on top of the world and secure in the knowledge that you have done the very best for your skin and everyone will remark on the radiance of your complexion.
