Our feet often get forgotten about when the summer season approaches. It’s only when we slip on our sandals for the first time, that we realise we should have taken more notice and care to our tootsies!
Here are some tips to get your feet ready for the sandal season:
Daily Hygiene
Clean your toenails. We tend to ignore the dirt that builds up under our nails over the winter as we are always wearing socks. However, fungus can work its way under the nail bed giving you nail fungus – yuck! You can keep the toenails clean by soaking them in warm water and washing them with a nice soap, before drying them carefully especially between the toes.
When cleaning under the toenail, use a clean pointed cuticle stick to gently work out the dirt.
Keep them Trim
To avoid ingrown toenails, cut your toenails straight across rather than a curved shape, but if you do prefer curved nails use a nail file to smoothen the ridges. Be careful not to cut them too short that you end up hurting yourself.
Moisturise
After washing, moisturise your feet with cream or lotion to soothe the feet – it’s also a perfect time to give them a massage, especially after a long day. Once a week, you could exfoliate the feet to get rid of the dead skin and also use a foot file on the hard skin, but be careful not to overdo it.
